What is body mass index (BMI)?
Forget the magazines with pictures of skinny female models (or buff male ones). You need a "real world" way of deciding if your weight is right for you. BMI is an objective measure that can help you do just that!

BMI is calculated from your height and weight. Doctors and most health professionals often use BMI as an objective indicator to tell if a person is overweight, underweight or at a healthy weight. BMI is recommended by the National Institutes of Health.
