Risk Factors

There are two kinds of risk factors for coronary heart disease - those brought about by your circumstances and those brought on by disease or your behavior.
Risks you can't control are a family history of coronary heart disease, being older than 45, being male or being a woman after menopause.
Risks that can be reduced through lifestyle modifications or medications include high cholesterol, obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking and a lack of exercise.
